Mike Trapani holds a bachelor's degree in marketing from the University of Southern California. He has earned the professional designations of CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®), and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU ®). He is a member of the Million Dollar Round Table, Top of the Table. He is also a member of the National Association of Financial Planners and the Downtown Los Angeles Estate Planning Council. He has served as board member and President of the Northwestern Mutual Life CLU® Association. Among his professional accomplishments is being recognized as one of the top 20 lifetime producers in the history of Northwestern Mutual.
Professionally, he has spoken before industry groups such as California State Bar, Million Dollar Round Table, NML CLU® association and many industry meetings. He has spoken to many businesses and law firms in the areas of financial and retirement planning. Mike has known and helped many of our clients for over 40 years.
Mike has been married to Jovan (Sima) for over 40 years, lives in Rancho Palos Verdes, and has 4 children - Michele Zinser, a homemaker, John, a CFP® at their firm, Steve, a film editor and Mark, a recent graduate of Yale. He and Jovan are proud grandparents of 5 beautiful grandchildren. He has been active in his church and community. He has taught religious education in his parish, been a Eucharistic Minister, been President of the Executive Board for the Archdioceses of Los Angeles for religious education, worked extensively in Youth Ministry both in weekly classes and high school retreats. He has served on many charitable Boards to include: Holy Trinity Catholic School, Chadwick School in Palos Verdes, Little Sisters of the Poor, and the San Pedro and Peninsula YMCA. Mike enjoys traveling with Jovan and close friends, golf (usually!), time at the beach, going to the movies and mostly playing with his grandkids.
John Trapani began learning about insurance, financial planning, wealth management and estate planning at an early age. He
watched how his father, a 40-year industry veteran, has made a meaningful impact in his clients' lives. He is an alumnus
of Loyola High School and received his Bachelors of Science & Commerce in Operations Management & Information
Systems at Santa Clara University in 2001.
Out of college, John had a short but successful 5-year career in industrial real estate, working with business owners and
developers in the Inland Empire. As
Trapani Financial, Wealth Management and Insurance Servicescontinued to grow, he was asked to consider joining the team in 2007. He quickly became a student of the industry,
obtaining his Series 7, Series 66, and insurance licenses as well as earning his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®)
certification early in his career.
John is married to Tani (Yuen) who he met while attending Santa Clara University. They live in Seal Beach and are active
in their community and local Parish, St. Anne Catholic Church. They have two wonderful children, Leila & Jacob, and
enjoy traveling back to Hawaii where Tani’s family lives. In his spare time, John enjoys surfing, biking, cheering for
the Chargers and Lakers, and watching his children get into trouble.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, John Calvert graduated from Loyola High School and from Boston College with a degree in English
and philosophy. He has earned the professional designations of CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®),
Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®), and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®). He joined
Northwestern Mutual Los Angeles in 1994 and Trapani Financial, Wealth Management and Insurance Services in 1998. He is
a member of the Financial Planning Association and the Society of Financial Service Professionals. In 2008-2009, he helped
to start and was an Instructor for the CFP® Certification Program at California State University at Los
Angeles, Department of Extended Education.
John is married to Amy, lives in Woodland Hills, and has 3 children – Katy, attending Marquette University; Emma, attending
Sierra Canyon High School, and Quinn who is working on his pre-school diploma. John has been active in his church and
community. He has served St. Bernardine of Siena Catholic Church – Lector, Past President Parish Council, and in Youth
Ministry. For AYSO Region 71 – Coach, Referee, Board of Directors (past). For Boston College – Admissions and Advancement
Volunteer. For Loyola High School – President Alumni Association. For Ketchum YMCA – Board of Managers. He enjoys having
teenage daughters, spending time with his family, looking for lost golf balls, squash, trail running, and occasionally
backpacking and skiing.
Alex has been with our firm since since 2010 and has over 15 years experience in the financial services industry. He is responsible
for overseeing the insurance operations of the firm.
Alex has obtained his FINRA Series 6 & 63 securities licenses as well as his Life, Health and Annuity license. He received
his BA in finance from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Alex provides estate planning and wealth transfer planning solutions.
Alex and his wife, Sandie, have a son, Lucas. In his free time he enjoys cooking, playing hockey, and spending time with
Marisela has been with our firm since 2000. In 2013 she worked as a support team member for the insurance department. She
has since been promoted to Office Manager. Marisela oversees the daily operations of the office and client relations.
She can provide you with information on existing inforce policies, billing information, and inforce illustrations.
Marisela and her husband Jesus have two children, their son Michael and their daughter Natalie. Marisela enjoys spending
time with her family attending sporting events, traveling and hiking.
Maritza has been with our firm since August 2004 and is now our full-time Policyowner Service Coordinator. She holds her
Life and Health license. Her role is to provide administrative support for the life insurance business, including paperwork
and client service requests. She can help you with insurance servicing, insurance policy loans, billing and policy changes.
Maritza also provides in-force ledgers, information regarding disability policies, and processes claims.
Maritza enjoys spending time with family and friends, hiking, travelling, and loves to help others.
Quan has been with our firm since 2005 working in the Investment Operations Department. In June 2012, she joined the Trapani
team and is responsible for portfolio analysis, client servicing, client's annual reviews, and implementing investment
strategies. Quan graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a BA in Psychology and Social Behavior. She
holds her FINRA Series 7 and 63 securities licenses as well as her California Life & Health and Variable Insurance
licenses. She can help you: prepare and update financial plans, review investment accounts and portfolios, set up accounts
and implement transfers.
Quan is married to Joey and they have a son. She enjoys spending time with her family and watching movies.
Tim has been with our firm since 2007 and has worked in both insurance and investment operations. In November of 2008, he
joined the practice where he began as a Relationship Manager for a subset of our clients and has now become our Practice
Manager, overseeing many areas of our client service process. Tim is responsible for preparing financial plans, designing
/ implementing investment strategies, and leading our team to provide excellent client service in all areas of our business.
He has obtained his FINRA Series 7 & 63 securities licenses as well as his California Life, Health and Annuity license.
Tim prepares and updates holistic financial plans, reviews portfolios and provides market updates. He also can provide a
second opinion on existing investment portfolios.
Tim and his wife, Becca, moved from Atlanta to Los Angeles in 2007. They have a son, Lincoln, and two daughters, Abigail
and Noelle. Tim enjoys spending time with his family, trail running, and is an avid fan of all Atlanta sports teams.
